Kuia Olive Bullock (Nga Raura,
Nga Ruahinerangi, Ati Haunui a Paparangi) is the
Kaitohuora and Kaiwhakahaere of Te Kopere. She is
assisted by her sister, Kuia Sue Jones, a kaimahi,
and volunteers from whanau, iwi and the wider community.
Te
Kopere is based at Raehina Rise, the sister’s
ancestral homestead at Nukumaru near Waitotara.
Traditional Rongoa Maori is taught and practiced
there at the whare kura (school) and whare oranga
(clinic) of Parehounuku –and at many other
venues.
Te
Kopere moved to Nukumaru in 1990, after 12 years
based in Wellington. It was their first Traditional
Rongoa Maori School and clinic of its kind in the
Taranaki/Whanganui region.
Olive
Bullock (NZGON) has a broad background in health
and indigenous well-being issues including: Vice

(1994-1999); Maori Advisor, Mental Health Tribunal
(1994-1999): Trustee, Whanganui Rongoa Maori
Traditional Healers Collective; Member, Maori
Organics (Whanganui); Trustee, Tauranga Ika Marae,
Kaipo 10B; Cultural Advisor/Elder, Papatuanuku/Earth
Walk Pty (Australia); Host/visitor, indigenous
cross cultural exchange programs (since 1990). |
